Thanks to donations from generous supporters like you, NeighborSpace was able to hire three interns this summer. We want to help young conservationists gain fieldwork and behind-the-scenes experience, and staff is grateful for the extra hands and minds!

We introduced you to our stewardship interns last month.
Now read on to meet our communications intern, Mykiah.

My name is Mykiah Plummer, and I’m a senior at Towson University, majoring in Communication Studies with a minor in Film. I’m excited to work with NeighborSpace this summer because it’s been a while since I’ve had the chance to get out in the community and contribute in a meaningful way. Supporting the social media side of an organization that restores neighborhoods, protects green spaces, and brings life back into local communities feels important to me.

I’m originally from a small town in Prince George’s County, so I understand the love, effort, and genuine care it takes to keep neighborhoods thriving. NeighborSpace’s commitment to the environment and to community wellbeing is something I’m proud to be part of. After college, I plan to pursue a career in sports media, and I see this internship as a steppingstone that will help me grow my storytelling, content creation, and communication skills.

We would also like to welcome Bryson Gilchrist and Fionn McCann (not pictured), two local high school students who have graciously volunteered their time to help water new plantings at Ridgely Manor Park. Without them, the new trees and shrubs would struggle to survive!

Hi, I’m Fionn McCann, a Gilman high school student with a strong interest in environmental stewardship and service. I’m excited to volunteer with NeighborSpace and create a lasting positive impact on the community.

I’m Bryson Gilchrist. I go to Eastern Tech for the magnet program environmental technology with an interest in going into environmental engineering. I want to volunteer for NeighborSpace to find new ways I can help the environment.
