On Friday, October 20th, NeighborSpace staff and Board gathered with a group of intrepid volunteers and donors at the Carver Community Center in Towson. Though originally scheduled to be held at Ridgely Manor Park, we had to bow out and implement plan B once the forecast showed rainy, blustery conditions. Fortunately, we had a champion in Board member Nancy Goldring, who greatly assisted us in acquiring event space on short notice and was willing to share the history of the area with attendees. We were able to set up in the lovely large space just down the hall from a cabinet full of photos, awards, and mementos of Nancy’s grandmother, Adelaide Bentley, an East Towson community leader and namesake for NeighborSpace’s own Adelaide Bentley Park.

We could not have been more grateful for the group of volunteers and donors who braved the rain and last-minute location change to join us in celebration. These are folks who are absolutely vital to any success we here at NeighborSpace have, and who are our first supporters when we face difficulties. Though not everyone could join us for this particular evening, we want each and every donor and volunteer who has worked with us to know that you are appreciated and that we could not do the work we do without you.

Thank you to our stewardship partners, to our volunteers, to our donors, and to our supporters across Baltimore County. Thank you for caring about open green space in our communities, and for working with us to bring these spaces to communities across the county, reaching every county district. This is the first of what we hope will be a yearly celebration of your hard work and dedication. We hope to see you at next year’s appreciation event!
